Saturday rolls around and Rachel stands at Mike and Josephine's front door. She is a little nervous. She knows you said it was okay for her to do what she was doing, but she didn't tell you how extensive the photo shoot might become. “Oh well… here goes nothing!” she thinks as she takes a breath and rings the bell.
The door is answered by Josephine. She looks very beautiful today… much prettier than during the interview. “Thanks for being on time, Rachel,” she says in a voice that is low and soft.
“I'm really looking forward to today Josephine. I've been thinking about how you and Mike described the photo shoot and each day I found I was more excited!” Rachel says, smiling.
“I'm so glad to hear that Rachel… Mike and I were a bit nervous you might back out,” says Josephine as she lets Rachel into the house and leads her to the studio where the pictures would be shot.
When they arrive Josephine adds, “We really appreciate you modeling for us, Rachel. It’s so hard to find just the right look and this is a tough kind of assignment for any model. You’re really quite beautiful.”
Rachel only smiles as her Catholic modesty kicks in. Josephine continues talking. “I think we’ve found just the perfect male for the shots. He’s a really nice guy for one thing, and he’s really a hunk to boot. I'm never attracted to Asian guys, but this one was over-the-top hot. I think having an interracial couple for the poses will make the book that much more erotic. I’m just sure you two will get along fine. He seems very professional even though, like you, he’s not a professional model. He’s already here,” she prattles on as they enter the studio.
When Josephine said “Asian” Rachel's thoughts instantly went to her boss John. Rachel had said many Hail Marys for her frequent sexual thoughts about the man, but just couldn't help herself from getting a little wet imagining it was him Josephine was talking about.
The man is standing with his back to the door, and immediately Rachel can tell he is a big guy. But she can see only the back of the man’s head because he is facing away from her, talking to Mike. The room is full of very expensive looking photographic equipment — lights, tripods, umbrellas, and wires all over the place.
Josephine begins making introductions. “Mike, Rachel is here.”
The man begins to turn. Rachel takes a breath.
Mike smiles and says, “Rachel, this is…”
“John!” gasps Rachel.
“Yes,” says Mike, puzzled. “This is John. But… you two… know each other?”
“Oh shit!” says John as Rachel stands frozen, staring at him. Then he laughs. “Yeah, I guess you could say we know each other Mike… I’d like to introduce you to my long time employee, Rachel. She's been working for me and my company for the last three years!”
There is a prolonged silence in the room as all the occupants think about the suddenly very awkward situation that has just presented itself.
“John!” stutters Rachel again.
He smiled and says, “Hi Rachel. I never thought I’d see you here. Um, are you okay? You look sort of pale. How’s Ross? I’m sort of surprised he let you do this.” Though he is smiling, he is babbling too.
Josephine, in a deep and husky voice says, “My… my… but isn’t this uncomfortable.”
Rachel sees a chair and sits. Her knees are a little weak. Almost without thinking she answers, “Ross knows all about this. I would never try anything like this without his consent. He actually encouraged me, saying it might improve our sex life!”
“Well… that doesn't change the fact that we have to work together every day after this is done,” says John in a concerned tone of voice.
Mike sighs. “Shit! I rented all this stuff to take pictures today. We were going to try to get the whole thing shot in one day. This is gonna cost me a bundle.”
