You eagerly lean forward to hear what he has to say. Rachel looks frantically back and forth between you and her boss making you suddenly suspicious something might have happened between them.

With your tone a bit harder than you intended you say, “Decided what?”

“We decided she should get a promotion at work. Rachel and I felt, after discussing and exploring a few intimate details about our employer-employee relationship, that she has a lot more to offer than how things were between us, and that we should do a lot more things together at work. We feel it would be best for both of us this way. Qhat do you think Ross?

You heard exactly what John intended for you to hear, that your girlfriend capitalized on an opportunity to convince her boss to give her a promotion. Probably why she got so drunk in the first place… she was shmoozing him up and down and all over the place to get this promotion.

“Wow! That’s… amazing Rachel! Thank you John. I know Rachel will work very hard to please you at work!” you say, unwittingly contributing to an alternate conversation between you and John.

Rachel just couldn’t believe how adroit John was at speaking the truth without saying the truth. John had confessed that he and she would be doing lots of things with each other they didn’t do before and got Ross to say she would work hard to make the new relationship pleasurable for John… amazing.

Rachel has always been so fucking lucky with work… and this John seems a bit sweet on her, but probably the best thing to happen to her since you came along. “Cant wait to see all the changes about to happen to my girlfriend John. All thanks to you!”

Rachel flushed a deep crimson when you said that.

“Ready to go home baby?” you ask with a huge grin at being able to make your girlfriend blush.
